Job summary

City of North Miami Beach is seeking a Water Distribution Technician to inspect, maintain, and repair the city’s water distribution and wastewater collection systems under supervision. The role requires physical stamina and the ability to operate a range of equipment.

You will assist in inspections, perform manual excavation, locate and service meters, valves and hydrants, and ensure safe operations on worksites; a valid Florida driver's license and appropriate licenses are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED with two (2) years’ experience in construction, plumbing, or general labor work.
• Additional education and experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position may be substituted for the above requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists in conducting various repairs for distribution and collection systems.
• Inspects and maintains pump stations; checks oil levels, batteries, and generator levels.
• Performs manual excavation; digs tunnels and work spaces.
• Locates, inspects, and cleans waste and wastewater structures, meter boxes, and manholes.
• Installs and repairs water taps, meters, lines, valves, and related devices.
• Ensures safe operating conditions by setting barricades and directing traffic.
• Responds to drainage issues after storms; un-clogs pipes and clears debris.
• Operates a range of heavy and small equipment and tools.
• Performs routine cleaning and preventive maintenance of assigned equipment.
