Job summary

The City of Naples, FL is seeking a Water Meter Technician to inspect, test, repair and maintain water meters and backflow prevention assemblies for the City's utilities. The role supports customer service by reviewing billing and consumption inquiries and ensuring accurate meters and safe backflow devices.

Minimum qualifications include a High School diploma or GED, a valid Florida Class B CDL, and Level 3 Water Distribution and Backflow Tester certification; prior field experience is preferred

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Commercial Driver License, Class B.
• Must possess and maintain Level 3 Water Distribution and Backflow Tester.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and tests backflow prevention devices to ensure proper operation; tests and repairs assemblies.
• Schedules/tests large and small water meters; maintains and inspects installations; performs equipment testing/repairs.
• Maintains data and test records; documents repairs/installs; prepares meter accuracy and backflow test reports.
• Responds to customer inquiries; investigates billing, consumption disputes and tampering concerns.
• Uses backflow/test equipment and maintains it properly.
• Trains colleagues on repairs, upgrades, and maintenance programs.
• Operates a PC to enter/retrieve data using Word/Excel/Access and related software.

Education
