Job summary

Union County is seeking an Utility Technician Supervisor to lead a crew in Water & Wastewater Operations. The role involves maintaining and repairing water/sewer systems, meters, taps, hydrants, and pumps, with oversight of safety and regulatory compliance.

You'll coordinate with Billing and Customer Service, monitor SCADA, schedule preventative maintenance, and train staff. A CDL Class A with Tanker endorsement and relevant certifications are required or obtainable within 18 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED with 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Valid CDL Class A with Tanker endorsement and a safe driving history.
• Ability to obtain NC DOT flagger safety, OSHA excavation certifications including Competent Person, Confined Space, and CPR/First Aid.
• Water Distribution Operator Grade B or WPC Operator Grade 2 certification within 18 months of hire.
• Pre-employment Drug/Alcohol test required; ability to work varying shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supervises crew performing maintenance and operation of water/sewer systems.
• Oversees taps, repairs, line flushing, meter work and CCTV inspections.
• Monitors SCADA for system performance and coordinates with Billing and Customer Service.
• Maintains safety policies, trains staff, and conducts required safety training.
• Maintains records, prepares work orders, and ensures traffic control and permits.
