Job summary

Navajo Tribal Utility Authority seeks an experienced supervisor for water and wastewater operations. The role requires journeyman certification, a master system operator qualification, and 5–7 years in the field, plus 2 years of supervisory experience.

The successful candidate will manage staff, schedule maintenance, ensure compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act, and oversee budgeting, data entry, and SAP-based job orders. A Class A CDL with HazMat is required.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years' experience in water/wastewater construction/operations.
• 2 years of supervisory experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, MS Projects, Project Management and Outlook.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License, Class A with Hazmat Endorsement (MDMR).

Responsibilities

• Supervises employees directly including selection, training, performance appraisal and work allocation.
• Plans, organizes, schedules and supervises the work duties of assigned staff.
• Schedules preventive maintenance on water distribution and wastewater collection systems.
• Ensures compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act surface water treatment rules.
• Ensures projects comply with regulatory laws, environmental, hazardous waste, OSHA and safety requirements.
• Investigates customer complaints and recommends actions.
• Maintains well and maintenance records; reviews project documents for compliance.
• Provides job documentation in written reports and forms.
• Monitors and reports on water/wastewater projects within the area and on Apprentices in the program.
• Prepares preliminary cost estimates, bills of materials and work orders for large projects.
• Operates SAP to monitor and close out job orders.
• Prepares operation/maintenance and capital budgets; ensures expenditures stay within budget.
• Performs standby duties and safety meeting presentations.
• Demonstrates exceptional leadership, motivation, and strong interpersonal skills.
