Job summary

The City of Dothan is seeking a Maintenance Worker to support the construction, repair, and ongoing upkeep of the city’s water distribution and wastewater collection system. The role involves assisting crews, locating utilities, and ensuring safe, compliant operations.

Responsibilities include monitoring SCADA, handling after-hours calls, and aiding in CCTV/vac truck tasks. A high school diploma or GED is required, with related vocational training preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED; preferred related vocational training.
• Six months experience in installation, repair and inspection of utility work (water/sewer) preferred.
• Certificate or diploma from technical program in welding, plumbing, pump maintenance, mechanics, electric, or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist crews in construction, repair, and maintenance of water and/or sewer lines.
• Locate underground utilities and ensure access to mains and manholes.
• Monitor SCADA and assist in emergency response and safety compliance.
• Disinfect mains and complete data in city work order systems.
• Respond to after-hours requests and support CCTV/vac truck operations.
