Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required.
• Preferred 6 months of construction/maintenance experience in water systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned work orders efficiently and prioritize with supervisor.
• Perform skilled construction/maintenance work for water/wastewater and public works projects.
• Use power/hand tools and light–heavy equipment to complete tasks.
• Assist in prioritizing and completing work orders.
• Clean catch basins and remove debris to ensure public safety.
• Conduct pre-trip inspections on vehicles.
• Perform asphalt repair, landscaping, and basic surface cuts as needed.
• Assist Crews and attend safety trainings.
• Coordinate daily duties with Crew Supervisors to ensure material availability.
• Prepare for jobs by checking materials and inputting locations into GPS.
• Set up safety cones and secure work areas before maintenance.
• Clean and organize work areas; collect scrap material.
• Consult supervisors daily for assigned tasks and preparation details.
• Unblock service cleanouts and locate spill sources; clear debris from catch basins and storm lines.
• Diagnose cave-ins causes and operate Vactors/hand rods for blockages.
• Safeguard work areas and flag traffic for crew safety.
• Unstop sewers and house connections; mark water mains and service lines.
• Check utility truck equipment and request materials as needed.
