Job summary

The City of Laredo's Utilities Department seeks an experienced engineering leader to oversee the Engineering division, coordinating with departments, consulting firms, utility companies and contractors on water and wastewater projects from design through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical engineering, or water/wastewater and subdivision development.
• Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) License is required.
• Valid Texas Driver License.

Responsibilities

• Supervises division personnel and coordinates hiring and training; conducts performance evaluations.
• Plans improvements of water and wastewater systems; including plant expansions, improvements, and line extensions.
• Prepares and implements a 10-year Capital Improvement Program.
• Coordinates with Engineering staff, consulting groups, and the City to meet current and future demands.
• Oversees plat approval review processes for the division and recommends revisions.
• As project engineer, administer construction of water and wastewater improvements.
• Prepares, administers, and monitors the division budget for cost effectiveness.
