Job summary

West Virginia is seeking an Engineer Intern/FE-eligible professional to join the Division of Water and Waste Management. Under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer, you will review reports, plans, and contracts for wastewater and water projects, and assist in inspections and meetings to ensure regulatory compliance.

Regular attendance is essential; you will engage with officials and the public, prepare clear reports, and participate in project-related meetings, while expanding

Qualifications

  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with federal, state, and local officials, the public and staff.
  • Must be able to write reports in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must be able to present factual material and ideas effectively.
  • Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Review preliminary engineering reports and facility planning studies for feasibility and project justification.
  • Review project plans and specifications to ensure constructability and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform interim and final inspections on wastewater and water projects under construction.
  • Attend project meetings from planning to public hearings and review agreements and contracts.
  • Attend training and stay updated on construction practices and costs.
