Job summary

ISG, a full-service architecture and engineering firm, seeks a Water/Wastewater Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD. You will work on municipal and industrial projects, leading design through construction while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality.

You will collaborate with engineering leaders Casey Patton and Brian Hiles and contribute to award-winning projects across the U.S. ISG emphasizes ownership, growth, and a supportive culture.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
• 4–10+ years in water/wastewater design and drafting of treatment facilities, storage, and distribution systems.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, GIS, hydraulic modeling software, and Microsoft Office.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive plans for water distribution networks, wastewater collection systems, and treatment facilities.
• Design pumping stations, pipelines, lift stations, and storage tanks.
• Perform hydraulic modeling and hydrological analyses for design optimization.
• Lead cross-functional teams through planning, design, construction and commissioning.
• Prepare detailed reports, cost estimates, and construction documentation.
• Manage project timelines and budgets while ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical guidance during construction and operations for quality and performance.
• Diagnose system issues and propose engineering solutions.
• Conduct feasibility studies and environmental impact assessments.
• Ensure designs meet federal, state, and local regulations.
• Prepare environmental documentation and facilitate permitting processes.
• Collaborate with municipalities, utility providers, developers, and government agencies.
• Translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
