Job summary

Hanson invites applications for a Water/Wastewater Engineer (E.I.T.) with 1-2 years of experience to support municipal infrastructure projects from our Springfield, Illinois office. The role emphasizes sewer rehabilitation and collection system improvements with a mix of office and field responsibilities.

You will work with project managers, municipal clients, and contractors to deliver practical, sustainable solutions, performing calculations, modeling, and field observations.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of civil, municipal, water, or wastewater engineering experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• Engineer Intern (E.I.T.) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
• Familiarity with wastewater collection systems and sewer rehabilitation.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS or hydraulic modeling is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work in a team.
• Willingness to perform field investigations and travel locally.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and rehabilitation of wastewater collection systems and sewers.
• Support sewer system evaluation studies and condition assessments.
• Perform engineering calculations, hydraulic analyses, and modeling.
• Prepare plans, specs, reports, permits, and cost estimates.
• Participate in field investigations and construction observation.
• Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and municipal stakeholders.
• Review CCTV reports and help evaluate rehabilitation options.
• Support project delivery and document progress in the field.
• Assist with data collection, asset management, and infrastructure assessments.
• Stay informed on industry trends and trenchless rehabilitation methods.
