Job summary

HDR's Washington Water Business Group is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join multidisciplinary teams delivering pump stations, pipelines, and treatment projects across the region.

You will prepare calculations, writing specifications, reports, and construction documents, and work with senior engineers and project managers to guide project lifecycles. A strong employee-owned culture supports mentorship and growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
• Registered Professional Engineer in Washington or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience designing and supporting implementation of pipeline, pump station and/or treatment projects.
• Software knowledge: AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microsoft Office; scheduling software, hydraulic or process modeling software experience a plus.
• Active in area water/wastewater industry associations is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures, as needed.
• Act as technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects, as needed.
• Delegate to and mentor junior staff, as needed.
• Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
