Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to join the Water Business Group in Charlotte, NC.

The role focuses on pump stations, pipelines, and water resources management, supporting planning, design, and construction phases from concept to completion. You will conduct hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, prepare technical reports, and coordinate with sub-consultants while maintaining project schedules and budgets.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with 6 months of water/wastewater engineering/hydrology experience, or Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of water/wastewater experience.
• Education must include coursework in hydrology/hydraulics; work experience may substitute.
• Experience in GIS analysis using ArcGIS; dashboard development; R; Tableau; and PowerBI is required.
• Professional Engineer licensure is not a prerequisite.

Responsibilities

• Assist with projects through planning, design, and construction phases (gravity sewers, force mains, water distribution and transmission pipelines).
• Perform hydrologic/hydraulic modeling for water and wastewater projects and master plans.
• Prepare reports and analyses related to water resources management.
• Coordinate with sub-consultants and support schedules and budgets.
• Occasionally perform field construction inspections.

Job description

Primary Responsibilities

HDR's Water/Wastewater Engineer is a member of HDR's Water Business Group, focusing on water/wastewater pump stations, pipelines, and water resources. Duties include: assisting with projects through planning, design and construction phases, including gravity sanitary sewers and force mains, water distribution and transmission pipelines, water and wastewater pump stations and related infrastructure projects; technical investigation and analysis of various detailed studies and preparation of reports relating to water and wastewater management, system infrastructure, watershed and water supply planning and other environmental matters in the area of water resource management; providing hydrologic/hydraulic modeling for water and wastewater improvement projects, master plans, and similar water resource management projects; coordinating with sub-consultants, supporting senior staff to maintain project schedules and budgets, and producing documents in accordance with project scopes and quality program procedures; and occasional field construction inspection.

Required Qualifications

• A Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 6 months of experience in water/wastewater engineering/hydrology or a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 3 years of experience in water/wastewater engineering/hydrology.
• Education must include coursework in hydrology/hydraulics. Work experience may substitute for coursework.
• Required experience may include professional, internship, or academic research or teaching experience and must include experience in: GIS analysis using ArcGIS; Dashboard development; R; Tableau; and PowerBI.
• Accepting licensed and unlicensed candidates. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not a prerequisite for this position.
