Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer in Virginia Beach, VA. You will contribute to design and delivery of water and wastewater projects, supporting public health and environmental sustainability as part of HDR’s Water Business Group.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (PE preferred), at least 3 years of relevant design experience, and the ability to work independently within a collaborative, employee-owned culture. Preference for candidates in the Va Beach/Newport News area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects.
• Professional engineering license (PE) required.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for performing complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed.
• Function as technical specialist or project manager on mid-size projects as needed.
• Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• MS
• A minimum of 3 years experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects
• Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Va Beach / Newport News Area

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
• Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

• Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
