Job Summary

This position has responsibility for the successful operation, maintenance, and supervision of the water distribution plant and wastewater treatment plant, and requires state certifications for both wastewater & water.

Responsibilities

• Perform all aspects of sampling, monitoring and testing required to maintain compliance with Federal, State and Local regulations governing the wastewater treatment process and management
• Operates sewage treatment, sludge processing, and disposal equipment to control flow and processing of sewage
• Perform daily checks of the wastewater treatment process and periodic checks of pump stations
• Assist with the installation and inspection of new wastewater utilities
• Read and interpret meters and gauges that monitor the purification process and operation
• Operates and maintains water distribution system including servicing of pumps, motors, valves, generators, and equipment
• Analyzes and evaluates pump equipment, trouble‑shooting malfunctions, and monitoring of water operations
• Responsible for daily inspections of all plant equipment and perform repairs of machinery and equipment as needed
• Collects and records data for record maintenance
• Performs facility grounds maintenance including cleaning equipment and tanks, cutting grass, and various other ‘housekeeping’ duties
• Performs other related duties as directed

Qualifications

• Wastewater & Water Operator State Certification required
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records required
• Experience within a water/wastewater treatment environment
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
• Ability to work independently
• Strong attention to detail
• Must be available to work overtime and ‘on‑call’ as needed
