Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Water/Wastewater Intern in Hunt Valley, MD. The intern will support the design department by assisting with diverse tasks to gain practical experience and academic growth.

Immigration sponsorship is not available except TN visa eligibility. The firm offers ESOP, health care, PTO, holidays, and retirement plans, with compensation of $22–$27/hour, commensurate with experience and education.

Qualifications

• Full-time student currently pursuing an ABET accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering with an interest in water and wastewater projects.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior or lead with basic design tasks, including research, simple studies, and layout support.
• Help prepare drawings and documents for programming, schematic design, modeling, graphics, design development, and construction phases.
• Support the creation of presentation and marketing materials.
• Assist with construction phase activities, including site visits, RFI responses, reviewing shop drawings, and updating record drawings.
• Follow established quality control procedures and ask questions as needed.
• Learn and apply department and company standards and best practices.
• Develop basic design, analysis, and technical skills through hands-on experience.
• Participate in team meetings and collaborate with team members.
• Receive guidance from supervisors and team leaders.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, interior designers, and other multidisciplinary team members.
