Job summary

T&M Associates in New Jersey seeks an accomplished Water/Wastewater Engineer to join as Department Manager within the Water Market, overseeing multiple teams across the region.

The role focuses on leading design, planning, and implementation of water/wastewater infrastructure projects, developing business strategies, and managing project delivery, budgets, and client relations.

Ideal candidates bring PE license, Civil Engineering degree, and 15–20 years of experience in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required, with New Jersey licensure preferred.
• 15-20 years of experience in water, wastewater, and sewer engineering, with a strong background in project management, client relations, and staff development.
• Proven experience in managing large-scale water/wastewater projects, including budgeting, design, and client engagement.
• Demonstrated expertise in business management, including workload forecasting, business planning, KPI attainment, invoicing/collections, recruitment, and staff development.
• Strong leadership abilities with experience in team-building, collaboration, and strategic planning.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and work independently or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage multiple technical teams to ensure successful project completion and business outcomes across the region.
• Provide strategic leadership on water/wastewater engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical and regulatory standards.
• Guide design, planning, and optimization of infrastructure for water systems (treatment plants, watermain replacement, sewer systems, booster stations, pumping stations).
• Oversee business development, including proposal preparation, and collaboration with peers to support team goals and company success.
• Coordinate and manage project delivery to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Monitor and manage project finances, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, and collections.
• Mentor and develop staff through recruitment, training, and performance management.
• Collaborate with regional leadership to align projects with company growth strategy.
