Job summary

Bowman Consulting Group, Ltd. is seeking a Construction Inspector II (Water/Wastewater) for our Williamsburg, VA team. The role focuses on inspecting work, materials, and contractor performance to ensure conformance with plans, specifications, and safety standards.

Responsibilities include reviewing change orders, timing inspections, and preparing reports. A strong background in civil construction and public works inspection is preferred, with effective communication across teams and clients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; commensurate relevant experience considered.
• Three or more years of experience in construction field in civil improvement projects.
• Knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices for municipal settings.
• Working knowledge of applicable laws, standards and regulations related to construction, inspection, safety, and traffic control.
• Knowledge of public works inspection methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead inspection activities and monitor work quality and materials on various projects.
• Verify contractor work for accuracy, proper methods, and compliance with standards.
• Review and help approve monthly pay applications and change orders.
• Prepare inspection reports and maintain project files.
• Coordinate construction schedules to ensure timely material testing and site traffic control.
• Assist in developing constructability reviews and interpret design intent with design professionals.
