The City of Detroit seeks an Inspector I to oversee contractor construction services for DWSD projects. The role requires reviewing plans, ensuring quality control, and maintaining documentation for progress and payments.

You will assist engineers, monitor safety practices, and conduct site inspections with PPE, while coordinating with multiple teams and abiding by local regulations. This is a grant-funded, temporary position through 11/11/2029.

• Requires ability to review plans, blueprints and specifications and identify issues affecting construction projects.
• Must maintain quality control through inspections and material testing on construction sites.
• Prepare daily/weekly logs and reports for construction accounting and history.
• Assist engineer in correcting defects and resolving issues to avoid non-compliance.
• Attend construction meetings and monitor schedules to estimate contract payments.
• Enforce safety regulations and wear PPE on site.

Responsabilidades

• Review and interpret plans, blueprints, sketches and specifications, and provide detailed information of factors or issues that may affect construction projects.
• Maintain quality control standards by assuring inspection and field or laboratory testing of all construction materials, supplies and equipment used on construction projects.
• Prepare daily and weekly activity logs, reports and specialized reports required for construction accounting and historical reporting.
• Advise and assist the engineer in refining requests, securing corrections to defective work, errors and omissions in the design to avoid a non-compliance report.
• Attend construction meetings. Monitor work schedules to determine progress and prepare estimates for contract payments.
• Ensure safety regulations are enforced on construction sites. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
• A valid Michigan Driver's License and the ability to drive a motor vehicle on all terrain.
