Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform on-site inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role covers pipelines, water mains, sewers, lift stations, and treatment facilities, with duties including submittal reviews, testing oversight, and maintaining inspection records.

Responsibilities include verifying material compliance, coordinating with project managers, and ensuring health and safety standards on water and wastewater infrastructure

Qualifications

• College degree or min. 5 years' work experience in related field.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
• Knowledgeable with construction methods and Caltrans and Greenbook standard plans and specifications.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to work well with others.

Responsibilities

• Inspect a variety of construction including repair of pipelines, water mains, sewers, lift stations, and treatment plants.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and informs contractors of variances from approved plans.
• Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assists in conducting field tests.
• Checks location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
• Assists PM in review of project submittals, RFIs, and CCOs.
• Verifies acceptability of material via Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, and test reports.
• Maintains material and inspection records; daily diary and photo log.
• Other duties as assigned.
