Job summary

BKF Engineers is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections, ensuring projects comply with contracts and permits. The role supports field operations across water, sewer, and related infrastructure in California.

Responsibilities include reviewing submittals, sampling materials, maintaining records, and coordinating with contractors and project staff. A college degree or 5+ years in the field and a California Class C license are required; CPII and related certifications are

Qualifications

College degree or min. 5 years' work experience in related field.
Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver's record are required.
Experience supervising or inspecting engineering construction is preferred.

Responsibilities

Inspect a variety of construction including repair of pipelines, water mains, sewers, lift stations, and treatment plants.
Advise Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and inform contractors of variances from approved plans.
Take samples of materials, prepare test specimens, and assist in field tests.
Check location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
Assist PM in review of submittals, RFIs, and CCOs.
Verify acceptability of material via Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, and test reports.
Maintain material and inspection records and a daily diary.
