Job summary

BKF Engineers seeks a Construction Inspector to perform onsite inspections and ensure construction complies with contract requirements and permits. Responsibilities include evaluating pipelines, water facilities, and wastewater plant work while documenting data and coordinating with engineers.

The role requires a College degree or 5+ years in related field, plus a California Driver's License. Candidates should have strong communication skills and experience with field testing and submittal

Qualifications

• College degree or 5+ years of work experience in a related field.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.
• Experience in supervision or inspection of engineering construction is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect a variety of construction including repair of pipelines, water mains, sewers, lift stations, and treatment plants.
• Advise Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and inform contractors of variances from approved plans and specifications.
• Take samples of materials, prepare test specimens, and assist in field tests.
• Check location of public utilities to avoid interference with construction work.
• Assist PM in review of project submittals, RFIs, and CCOs.
• Verify acceptability of materials via Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, and test reports.
• Maintain inspection records, daily diary, photo log, and contract item quantities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
