Job description

Join to apply for the Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector role at STV.

STV has an immediate need in the NYC area for a Construction Inspector in our Water/Wastewater division. The successful candidate will support our current staff and help grow the W/WW Inspection practice to better serve clients in the NYC Metro area.

This role offers opportunities to maintain client relationships, expand STV’s services, participate in major water and wastewater infrastructure projects, mentor junior staff, and promote a healthy work-life balance.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate and perform inspections of water and wastewater infrastructure, including aqueducts, reservoirs, treatment plants, and related facilities.
  2. Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and regulations.
  3. Review construction plans, specifications, permits, and related documents.
  4. Participate in meetings to resolve construction issues with contractors and stakeholders.
  5. Make field measurements and ensure safety standards are met.
  6. Coordinate materials testing and identify on-site problems.
  7. Report non-conformance issues and monitor corrective actions.
  8. Recommend contract and plan adjustments based on field conditions.
  9. Maintain records and produce daily inspection reports.
  10. Calculate and recommend progress payments for work completed.
Knowledge And Skills
  1. Broad understanding of water and wastewater infrastructure, laws, standards, and regulations.
  2. Ability to handle significant projects requiring collaboration.
  3. Exercise independent judgment and coordinate among groups.
  4. Strong communication skills and ability to understand technical documents.
  5. Provide consultation and advice to management.
  6. Supervise personnel indirectly or directly.
  7. Uphold safety practices and PPE use.
Education And Experience
  1. High School Diploma.
  2. At least 8 years of water and wastewater inspection experience.
  3. OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification (preferred).
  4. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
  5. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Compensation Range

$72,168.00 - $96,224.00
