Job Description

Dewberry is currently seeking a full-time Water/Wastewater Construction Inspector with 0-2 years of experience for our Parsippany, NJ office. The position will perform a variety of construction related work in support of infrastructure projects in the New York Metropolitan area including Rockland and Westchester Counties in New York, and Bergen, Morris and Hudson Counties in New Jersey. The Engineer will perform such tasks as construction inspection, collecting field data needed to progress pay applications, establishing quantity and cost estimates. Inspector must be flexible, client focused and capable of working independently under the supervision of project managers.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor contractor operations for compliance with contract plans, provisions and specifications
  • Coordinate and schedule various phases of construction inspection with the prime contractor and other agencies
  • Proactive in identifying field issues and discuss solutions with supervisor
  • Collaborative approach to working in a team that includes the owner and contractor
  • Prepare and process construction records, including RFI’s, submittals, field measurements for progress pay applications, extra work billings, and contract change orders
  • Ability to document all field activities, work in a collaborative manner with the owner and contractor and represent Dewberry and our clients in the highest capacity
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • High school graduate or GED equivalent is required, Associates degree in Engineering and/or NICET II is preferred.
  • 0-2 yrs of experience. Water main and utility field inspection experience preferred.
  • Works in a timely fashion to meet project requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with clients, coworkers, sub consultants, and agency review staff.
  • Additional requirements include excellent communications skills, ability to read and interpret plans and specifications, and ability to perform complex quantity and engineering computations.
  • Driving is a requirement of the position. A clean driving record is required.
