Job summary

Thomas & Hutton is seeking an engineer to advance municipal water and wastewater projects in the Southeast. You will prepare drawings and specs, coordinate with clients and regulators, and help design treatment facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred but not required.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• 2+ years of experience utilizing AutoCAD for engineering design.
• Experience in design of pump stations and municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities preferred.
• Basic understanding of wastewater treatment principles.
• Experience with permitting processes and client/contractor coordination is a plus.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Excel; BioWin experience preferred but not required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments effectively.
• Client-service mindset with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Develop technical specifications, design calculations, and process flow diagrams for water and wastewater projects.
• Assist with the planning and design of municipal water and wastewater treatment facilities.
• Support the design and permitting of wastewater pump station projects.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies throughout project development.
• Assist with permit applications and supporting documentation.
• Review and refine project designs to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements.
• Support project delivery efforts to meet scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
