Job summary

Halifax County Government is seeking a maintainer to perform skilled work in the maintenance, repair, and reading of water meters, and to assist with water and sewer line upkeep.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid North Carolina driver's license, and a willingness to learn meter-reading software. CDL is preferred; a background check will be completed before hire.

Description

This position performs skilled worked in the maintenance, repair, and reading of water meters. Additional responsibilities include maintenance and repair of water and sewer lines and other related tasks as needed.

Requirements

Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED. Experience in the maintenance, repair and/or construction of water lines helpful, but not required. Prefer applicant with basic knowledge of computers and be willing to learn meter reading software and hardware operation. Valid driver’s license in the State of North Carolina.

Prefer applicants with Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or willing to obtain within 12-months.
