Job summary

City of Fort Worth is seeking a skilled Utility Line Technician - Water Asset Management to help identify and resolve issues in the water distribution system. Expect after-hours work during emergencies, with on-call rotation, and duties across leaks, main breaks and service lines.

The role requires operating specialized equipment for locating leaks, shutting off valves, and coordinating repairs while maintaining safe, compliant operations for a large urban water system.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in water or wastewater utilities.
  • TCEQ Class D Water Distribution Operator license within one year of hire.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provides preventive maintenance to water and sewer lines.
  • Troubleshoots problems and serves residents, contractors and engineers.
  • Performs line locations and tests to determine cause of problems.
  • Completes city forms, surveys, reports and work orders.
  • Maintains CCTV equipment and follows safety procedures.
  • Ensures safety of all workers and adheres to attendance policies.
