Job summary

The City of Phoenix Water Services Department seeks a professional economist/analyst to assist with forecasting, rate analyses, and financial disclosures. You’ll work with data on consumption, population, and weather to support multi-year projections and rate planning, collaborating with internal teams on information requests and surveys.

Ideal candidates have strong forecasting skills, Excel proficiency, and the ability to interpret economic trends for utility planning and budgeting.

Qualifications

  • Three years of professional level experience in economic or statistical analysis and research.
  • Bachelor's degree in economics, statistical research analysis or a related field.
  • Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains forecasting models that record past consumption, population data, weather data and forecast future consumption.
  • Participates in multi-year water and wastewater rate revenue forecasting, comparisons, and analysis; assists in special studies on impact of growth and weather.
  • Prepares information for financial disclosures.
  • Provides comprehensive analysis of special projects and prepares reports as requested.
  • Works with City of Phoenix staff to complete information requests and surveys.
  • Participates in developing rates, taxes and fees.
