Job summary

The City of Baltimore seeks a Utilities Installer and Repairer III to maintain, repair and install water mains, service pipes, water meters, fire hydrants, sanitary house connections, manholes and related appurtenances in the water distribution and waste water systems. Incumbents work outdoors, may lead other installers, and are subject to on-call rotations with evenings, weekends, and holidays.

A high school diploma and two years’ related experience are required, with certification requirements

Qualifications

• Knowledge of tools, materials and equipment used in installation, maintenance and repair of water distribution systems.
• Knowledge of safety precautions and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to perform and interpret simple chemical tests and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and install water mains, service pipes, water meters and related appurtenances.
• Manage manholes, wastewater and storm drain components as part of distribution systems.
• Supervise or guide other installers as needed and operate with moderate supervision.
