Job summary

City of Raleigh is seeking a skilled Utilities Technician to support Raleigh Water's water treatment plants and distribution system. You will set up work zones, inspect systems, and assist with field operations while prioritizing safety and customer service.

Requires 1–3 years in water/wastewater infrastructure and a valid NC Class C license; occasional outdoor work in diverse weather is expected with comprehensive benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; 1–3 years in water/wastewater infra inspection, maintenance, or related work.
• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.
• Knowledge of municipal water systems, safety practices, and basic record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Set up work zones, monitor hazards, and address hazardous conditions and materials.
• Document field activities and data in a computerized work order system.
• Perform or coordinate delivery of specialized service work and conduct inspections.
• Respond to inquiries from customers and reference account information; escalate when needed.
• Assist with special projects and perform other utility duties as required.
