Job summary

City of Raleigh North Carolina is seeking a Lead Water Quality Technician to provide specialized maintenance of water infrastructure and support safe, sustainable water services for our community. The role will supervise field crews, perform inspections, and ensure compliance with water quality standards.

You'll work outdoors in various environments, require 3–5 years of related experience, the NC Class C driver's license, and a Water Distribution License.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with 3–5 years of water/wastewater infrastructure experience.
• Ability to supervise crews and lead safety-focused maintenance.
• Knowledge of municipal water systems and safety practices.

Education and Experience

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency; 3 to 5 years’ experience in water/wastewater infrastructure inspection, maintenance/repair, or related work

OR

Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted

Licenses or Certifications

• Valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
• Water Distribution License

ADA and Other Requirements

Medium: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Work Environment

Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, street environment (near moving traffic), construction site, or in a vehicle. Employees may occasionally work in a shop environment.

Work Exposures

There is frequent exposure to extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and loud noises (85+ decibels average over 8-hour working day such as heavy trucks, jack hammers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers, construction). Employees may occasionally be exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate, extreme cold (below 32 degrees), communicable diseases, and toxic or caustic chemicals or substances.
