Job summary

Chesterfield County Department of Utilities in Virginia is seeking a Utility Worker to join the meter repair and maintenance crew. You will assist in maintaining the county’s underground water distribution system and respond to customer concerns, while following safety rules and using PPE.

This position offers traditional weekday hours, overtime opportunities, and a benefits package including Virginia Retirement System, paid time off, compensatory leave, and uniform and PPE provision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and one year of experience in a maintenance-related field.
• Some computer skills are preferred.
• Good communication and customer relations skills are required; heavy lifting required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair the county’s underground water distribution system infrastructure.
• Repairing, replacing, and installing water service lines ¾” – 2” and water meters and related parts.
• Respond to and troubleshoot customer concerns pertaining to the water service.
• Complete service requests and work orders on a county owned computer.
