Job summary

The City of Richmond's Department of Public Utilities Water Distribution Division is seeking to fill a Utilities Field Specialist position for day shift (Hours 7:00 am - 3:30 pm) to maintain and repair the City's water distribution system and respond to leaks or emergencies. This essential role requires on-call duty including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in water pipelines/plumbing.
• Equivalent combination of training and experience may be used to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair water service hydrants, meters, lateral/main lines, sampling stations, valves and other water assets.
• Use hand tools, hydraulic tampers, compressors, pneumatic tools and power tools.
• Operate heavy equipment and trucks including backhoe, crane truck, excavator and dump trucks.
• Read, interpret and execute plans from maps, surveys and diagrams.
• Follow established safety procedures and protocols.
