Job summary

American Water Co. is seeking a Station Operator - Level 1 in New Jersey to operate water treatment facilities, monitor processes, and support safe, reliable water delivery.

You will work with control systems, perform maintenance tasks, and contribute to compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role requires enrollment in a New Jersey water/wastewater program within 60 days and progression to T-1 and W-1 licenses within 3.5 years, plus annual Emergency Response and OSHA medical

Qualifications

• Must enroll in a New Jersey State approved Introduction to Water/Wastewater Operations training within 60 days.
• Must attain and maintain a T-1 and W-1 License within 3.5 years of hire.
• Must pass an initial and annual Emergency Response and OSHA medical assessment.

Responsibilities

• Operate water treatment facilities and appurtenances to ensure safe, reliable water production and delivery.
• Review and adjust hydraulic and chemical processes to meet water quality standards.
• Operate and adjust computer/automated control systems to maintain facility integrity and delivery requirements.
• Prioritize and coordinate tasks for safe and reliable operation of water systems.
• Respond to inquiries professionally and resolve customer and company issues to maintain service quality.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities, including pumps, piping, lubrication, and testing equipment.
• Maintain facility appearance and accurate records and reports.
• Receive and handle chemicals per safety standards; collect water samples and conduct tests to ensure water quality.
