Job summary

The City of Salida is seeking a Plant Operator (Class A-D) to operate and monitor water treatment processes, collect samples, and maintain equipment to ensure safe drinking water.

Candidates with certification or pursuing it are encouraged; the city provides training and supports certification within one year. The role offers a four-day work week, rotating weekends, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Colorado Water Operator Certification (Class A, B, C, or D) or actively pursuing certification within one year of hire.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office.
• SCADA/HMI experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor water treatment processes and equipment.
• Collect water samples and perform routine testing and analysis.
• Monitor chemical systems and treatment operations.
• Maintain plant equipment, facilities, grounds, and raw water conveyance systems.
• Complete operational records, reports, and compliance documentation.
• Assist with emergency response, infrastructure maintenance, and special projects as needed.
