City of Norfolk, VA is seeking a Waterworks Operator in the Water Production Division to operate and monitor a water treatment plant, perform chemical testing, and ensure safe water. Operators maintain filtration, monitor turbidity, and regulate pumps to sustain required pressure levels.

The role includes working 3 days on and 3 days off, 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. shifts, with opportunities for license progression from Operator I to IV as experience and exams are completed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
• Must pass Waterworks Operator Class IV License exam within two years of hire and Class III within two years after Class IV (Operator I).
• Operator II requires Class III license and passing Class II exam within two years of classification.
• Operator III requires Class II license and passing Class I exam within two years of classification.
• Operator IV requires Class I license and three years of experience.

Responsabilités

• Operates the water treatment plant and conducts chemical tests to maintain water quality.
• Monitors filtration and adjusts filters, turbidity, head loss, and cleaning processes.
• Maintains water pressure by adjusting pumps and managing tanks and associated equipment.
