Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Plant Operator in Las Vegas, NV to operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment equipment, record data, and support plant compliance. The role involves processing chemicals, conducting tests, and maintaining logs while adhering to safety protocols. The position requires rotating shifts and physical stamina.

You will work with a small team to ensure safe, efficient plant operations and timely response to alarms, with opportunities for growth in a long-standing facility.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in water filtration and/or water treatment operations.
  • Hands-on experience as a Water Treatment Operator, including operation of water plant and groundwater treatment systems.
  • Maintenance technician experience with the ability to perform mechanical and basic electrical maintenance on plant equipment.
  • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and precision equipment for preventive maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Ability to operate process equipment, meters, gauges, and chemical metering devices used in water and wastewater treatment.
  • Capability to perform process calculations involving chemical dosage rates, biological loading, clarifier operation, and sludge generation rates.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures, including those related to hazardous waste site operations and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook, for data entry, reporting, and communication.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and algebra commonly used in the water treatment industry.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing from 50 pounds up to more than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work on feet for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks such as crouching, stooping, kneeling, shoveling, mowing, climbing, and extensive walking.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, inspect, adjust, and monitor process equipment and filtration systems used in water and wastewater treatment.
  • Record operational data from process control instruments, meters, gauges, and chemical metering systems on forms.
  • Detect and troubleshoot problems in air, water, and solids handling systems.
  • Perform process calculations to support proper equipment operation and sludge generation rates.
  • Add process chemicals using mixers, pumps, and metering devices per guidelines.
  • Conduct process control testing and field testing of samples to verify treatment effectiveness.
  • Evaluate water and waste streams to support operational decisions.
  • Maintain production quality by following procedures and logs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance using hand and power tools per O&M guidelines.
  • Clean equipment and facilities to maintain a safe work area.
  • Respond to alarms and emergencies at facilities and systems promptly.
  • Communicate updates and reports clearly with peers and supervisors.
  • Follow site safety requirements and wear PPE consistently.
  • Collaborate with a small team in a safety-focused environment.
