Brunswick County Public Utility is seeking a Water Treatment Operator for the 211 Water Treatment Plant in Southport, NC. This essential role operates a 6 MGD plant drawing from the Castle Hayne Aquifer, utilizing lime softening, clarifiers, sand filtration, and chlorination.

You will collect samples, adjust flows and chemical dosing, and help prepare reports. The site offers career ladder advancement and a comprehensive benefits package. Valid driver’s license and NC certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma and 1–5 years of experience in water/wastewater treatment or industrial facility preferred; or equivalent training/experience.
• Associate’s degree in natural sciences highly preferred.
• Possession of Grade C or higher Well Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate preferred.
• Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver License required.
• Trainee level hires must attain NC Grade C certification within probationary period.

Responsabilités

• Collect water samples and test results.
• Control mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and chemical feed systems.
• Make flow rate and chemical dosing changes.
• Assist in preparing reports and maintaining records for the water treatment process.
• Answer inquiries from the public and address concerns.
• Perform janitorial duties and work at other county water facilities as needed.
