Job summary

City of Philadelphia seeks a skilled Water Treatment Plant Operator to monitor and regulate a computer-controlled water treatment process, sludge handling, and related equipment. Work may involve rotating shifts and is performed under the supervision of a Plant Operations Crew Chief.

Education: high school diploma or equivalent; experience or training in wastewater treatment operations; valid operator licenses may be required by state authorities.

Qualifications

• Education equivalent to high school completion is required.
• At least one year of experience operating computer-controlled wastewater or water treatment equipment.
• Alternative: completion of specified training courses in related operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, adjust and regulate computer-controlled water treatment equipment.
• Work from central and remote terminals in sludge processing or wastewater treatment plants.
• Work under supervision, with rotating shifts as needed.
