Job summary

City of Seattle seeks a Water Transmission and Distribution Manager to lead a team of engineers and planners focused on the regional water transmission and Seattle-centric distribution systems. The role oversees asset planning, capital programs, and coordination with city agencies on projects and policy.

The position emphasizes seismic resiliency, pipe rehabilitation, and pump station improvements, with a hybrid work schedule and opportunities for growth within SPU.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental studies, or related field.
• Five years of experience in utility system management, planning, and engineering with supervisory experience.
• Preferred: Washington State PE license and/or Water Distribution Manager license.

Responsibilities

• Direct a team of engineers and planners for water transmission and distribution assets.
• Develop and manage capital programs with budgets around $90–100M annually.
• Oversee asset management planning, hydraulic modeling, and long-term system needs.
• Coordinate with operations, maintenance, and other city agencies on projects and development.
• Present briefings to SPU senior leadership on asset management and budget priorities.
• Lead the development of standards, policies, and procedures for transmission and distribution.
