Job summary

The Town of Nags Head is seeking a team-oriented worker to join the water crew. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing water lines, meters, and related equipment, as well as operating and maintaining municipal water plant systems.

This position requires shift work including nights, weekends, and holidays; expect on-call duties and the potential for overtime to ensure reliable water service for residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational/technical training preferred.
• 2 years of experience in water distribution maintenance or related field.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair water lines, meters, taps, valves, pumps, and hydrants.
• Respond to service emergencies, leaks, and outages; diagnose problems and perform repairs.
• Read meters and maintain production and operation logs and reports.
• Monitor water system operations and ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
• Carry out routine maintenance and tests, and document results and activities.
• Perform general custodial and grounds maintenance around work sites.
