Job summary

The City of Perrysburg is seeking a skilled helper to assist in construction, maintenance, operations, and repair of water distribution, wastewater collection, and stormwater systems. You will support pumping stations, meters, and hydrants, and help with preventive maintenance.

Responsibilities include assisting with installation, inspections, and testing of meters and water infrastructure, plus following safety rules and working with the public. A high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent certificate.
• Proficiency with computers and basic software tools.
• Knowledge of safety rules and construction plans is required.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
• Ability to follow directions and work professionally with the public.
• Willingness to operate equipment and use hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Assist in operation, maintenance, and repair of pumping stations and related equipment.
• Assist with water taps, meters, and repairs in water mains and services.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections of water and wastewater systems.
• Assist in repair and rebuilding of pumps, motors, and mechanical equipment.
• Assist with maintenance of catch basins and storm sewers.
• Operate vehicles and equipment listed in the Equipment Operated section.
• Note operating deficiencies and assist with maintenance of pumps, valves, and other equipment.
• Other duties assigned by supervisors.
