Job summary

City of Caldwell is seeking an intermediate-level Production Operator to manage water production systems, monitor SCADA controls, and perform maintenance tasks outdoors in varying conditions.

You will conduct sampling, ensure compliance with drinking water standards, and participate in on-call rotations, after-hours shifts, and emergency responses as needed. A valid Idaho CDL and licenses are required within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED.
• Two years of water distribution operations, maintenance, or treatment experience.
• Current valid driver’s license is required.
• Idaho Class I Water Distribution License
• Idaho Class II Water Distribution License within 6 months of hire.
• On-call rotation and ability to work evenings, weekends, and varying shifts.
• Background check, medical, and drug testing required including DOT testing.

Responsibilities

• Operates and monitors wells, pumps, booster stations, and reservoirs to regulate water pressure, supply and quality.
• Collects water samples and supports compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act standards.
• Perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs on chlorination and disinfection equipment and pumps.
• Operate and adjust controls via the SCADA system.
• Maintain records and locate valves and utility lines; respond to complaints and emergencies.
• Provide instruction to new staff and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
