Job summary

Provo City is seeking a Water Systems Operator (Apprentice through level III) to operate and maintain the city’s water sources system, including wells, reservoirs, pumps, valves, and telemetry equipment. The role involves taking daily readings, recording data, and ensuring reliable water service.

The candidate will perform routine maintenance, assist with construction and repair work, read meters, manage alarms, and support leak response while upholding safety and documentation protocols.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• One year of experience in general construction, maintenance, semi-skilled craft or trade showing mechanical aptitude.
• A valid Driver License is required.
• A Flagger certificate is required within 6 months at the Apprentice level.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, operate, and monitor wells, springs, reservoirs, pump stations, meters, and related water system equipment.
• Take and record daily readings to monitor water levels, pressure, flow, chlorine and alarms.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water sources and facilities; assist with construction and installation work.
• Read meters, set up and maintain traffic control, support water service connections and leak response.
• Maintain logs, inspection records, and reports and follow safety rules.
