Job summary

Ogden City Economic Development Division is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to support the Water Utility. The role involves reading water meters, maintaining pipelines, and handling related electrical/computer equipment with supervision from a Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications include at least one year of general maintenance experience and a high school diploma. The position requires field work, safety compliance, and occasional after-hours response to emergencies.

Qualifications

• At least one year of general maintenance experience performing field maintenance work.
• Six months experience with computerized data entry equipment is desirable.
• Some general water systems experience, construction experience or other utility experience is also desirable.
• High school diploma or its equivalent.
• Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities may be qualifying.

Responsibilities

• Read water meters, remember the reading, and record consumption correctly.
• Operate maintenance machines and equipment, perform basic repairs and laying of pipelines.
• Read meters with manual/electronic readers and report meter conditions to supervisor.
• Respond to emergency calls after hours and provide customer services including re-reading meters.
• Inspect meter rings/covers, maintain tools, and perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Assist in installation, maintenance, and repair of water mains, valves, hydrants, and backflow devices.
