Job summary

American Water in Fort Meade, MD seeks a maintenance technician to perform repairs and preventive maintenance on water distribution and wastewater systems. You will operate pumps, valves, meters, and related equipment, while maintaining records and coordinating with external contractors.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 0–2 years in relevant maintenance, and a valid CDL preferred. Expect safety training, potential overtime, and on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

0–2 years in maintenance of water distribution systems.
Valid state license, CDL preferred; background check required.
Trade-specific courses preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on water distribution and wastewater systems.
Operate pumps, valves, meters, and related process equipment safely.
Prepare maintenance material orders and keep records up-to-date.
Coordinate with outside contractors for projects as needed.
Follow EH&S policies and wear required PPE; possible overtime/on-call.
