Job summary

Alameda County Water District in Fremont, CA seeks a Systems Maintenance Supervisor to lead a thirteen-member team across mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and PLC maintenance. You will oversee preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, and scheduling to ensure reliable water facilities operations.

The role requires coordinating with operations, contractors, and engineers, maintaining safety programs, and developing SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with trade/technical school training in mechanical, instrumentation, or electrical trades; and four years of journey-level experience in mechanical, electrical, and I&C repair and maintenance, including one year of lead experience.
• Leadership experience preferred; completion of District's Leadership Skills Training Program is required after hire.
• Must obtain a Distribution Operator (D2) and/or Treatment Operator (T2) certification from California within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Oversees planning and scheduling of maintenance work based on priority, workload, skill sets, and parts; monitors safety and quality of workmanship.
• Coordinates activities between operations and maintenance staff, contractors, vendors and other District personnel.
• Oversees equipment removal/installation and power outages during repairs, modifications and new installations.
• Develops maintenance strategies for mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems; defines outside service scopes and monitors spending.
• Manages parts inventory and uses CMMS/EAM to log work orders, track progress, and generate reports.
• Supports capital projects by coordinating resources and attending planning meetings with engineers.
• Assists in budgeting, staff hiring, performance evaluations, and coaching for staff development.
• Responds to customer complaints and keeps Facility Maintenance Manager informed of issues.
