Job summary

Sacbar in California is seeking an Utilities Maintenance III to lead and supervise maintenance on the City’s water and wastewater systems. The role plans, schedules, and reviews work, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance while mentoring staff.

You will operate pumps and related equipment, inspect and repair facilities, read maps and plans, maintain logs, and coordinate projects with other city teams. Strong technical supervision and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Class B driver license.
• Grade I Water Treatment Operator’s Certificate and Grade II Water Distribution Operator’s certificate required.
• Two (2) years of experience equivalent to Utilities Maintenance II or similar position.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, and review the work of staff assigned to a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled maintenance work involving the City’s water and wastewater systems.
• Develop schedules and methods to accomplish assignments ensuring work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Provide and coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies.
• Take samples from various locations and of various plant processes; read and record plant instruments; perform basic laboratory work.
• Inspect and/or repair chlorine machine, fluoride machine, well equipment, water tower, water meters, drainage and sewer systems; ensure systems function properly.
• Maintain reports and records related to inspections, maintenance activity, water supply and consumption.
