Job summary

The City of Signal Hill is seeking a Water Systems Supervisor to lead daily operations, maintenance, construction, and repair of the city’s water production, treatment, and distribution systems. You will supervise staff, ensure compliance with state and federal water quality standards, coordinate safety, reporting, and after-hours emergency response, and contribute to budget and asset management initiatives.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years in water system operations with at least two years in supervisory or lead capacity.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid California Class C driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and evidence of insurance.
• Class B California driver’s license must be obtained within the first 12 months of employment.
• Possession of a valid Grade IV Water Distribution Operator Certificate (D4) and Grade III Water Treatment Operator Certificate (T3) are required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and supervise daily water system operations and maintenance tasks.
• Monitor and enforce compliance with water quality, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate staff including Water Operators and Water Maintenance Workers.
• Maintain and ensure proper function of SCADA systems and other automated water system technologies.
• Provide input into budget, asset management, and capital improvement project development.
