Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) seeks a Civil Engineer to oversee daily operations and maintenance of the ORNL water distribution, wastewater, and storm drain systems. The role emphasizes safe, reliable utility performance and coordination with operations, maintenance, and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will hold a BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) with 5+ years in related facilities engineering, including experience with utilities and SCADA systems.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited college/university.
• Minimum five years of civil engineering experience in operations and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants, industrial piping design, and utility systems.

Responsibilities

• Back-up for Operator by obtaining Tennessee wastewater and water distribution certifications.
• Support directing maintenance, outages, and modifications to preserve safety and environmental controls.
• Promote communication with customers, craft workers, and utility staff.
• Support predictive/preventive maintenance programs.
• Integrate worker safety and environmental protection into planning and execution.
• Provide engineering oversight of mechanical utilities projects.
