Job summary

Oak Ridge National Laboratory seeks a Work Center Team Lead – Steam Systems to direct the Steam Work Center within UD, ensuring safe, reliable operation of steam, compressed air, and natural gas systems across ORNL. You will lead engineering, maintenance, and craft personnel, uphold regulatory and environmental requirements, and drive continuous improvement across 24/7 utility operations.

The role requires a BS in engineering, 8+ years of relevant experience, and a minimum of 3 years in

Qualifications

BS in engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
Eight+ years of progressive utility, industrial plant, boiler or mechanical systems experience with operations and maintenance.
Three+ years of supervisory or management experience.
Experience with industrial steam systems, boilers, compressed air, central utility plants, or large mechanical utilities.
Preferred: Professional Engineer license active in Tennessee; 5+ years supervising craft personnel.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Steam Work Center to ensure safe, reliable, compliant operation.
Provide technical leadership for boilers, burners, fuel systems, water treatment, and piping.
Maintain system reliability through preventative and corrective maintenance programs.
Coordinate outages, inspections, and plant improvements with cross-functional teams.
Ensure environmental, safety, and regulatory compliance for steam and related systems.
Direct resource planning, performance standards, and 24/7 operations support.
